Salvador Allende – Chiles demokratiske socialist Den 4. september 1970 blev Salvador Allende valgt som præsident i Chile – den første demokratisk valgte marxistiske præsident i verden. Hans mål var at skabe et mere retfærdigt samfund gennem demokratiske reformer. Allende arbejdede for at nationalisere Chiles kobberminer, forbedre arbejdernes rettigheder og sikre bedre adgang til sundhed og uddannelse for almindelige mennesker. Mange fattige chilenere oplevede håb og forandring under hans regering. Men hans politik skabte også stærk modstand – både fra dele af Chiles elite og fra internationale interesser under den kolde krig. Den 11. september 1973 blev hans regering styrtet i et militærkup ledet af general Augusto Pinochet. Under kuppet døde Salvador Allende i præsidentpaladset La Moneda. For mange står han stadig som et symbol på kampen for demokrati, social retfærdighed og politisk mod. Så valgte de også lige at voldtage kvinder og beslaglægge den land de har befriet bagefter. Bygge et samfund op, hvor man ikke ved man hvem man stole på. Utrygheden i at naboen, læren eller endog en familie medlem kunne være informant til en KGB agent. En ting er hele sagen om Grønland Det er hele det spil med at gøre noget godt for Venezuela. Det skal do siges at mange ser også ud til at være glade i Venezuela på nuværende tidspunkt. Mange jøder i koncentrations lejerne i 2. verdenskrig var da nok også glade for at se russerne.
